Product Description

Mensil is a medicinal product indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men.

Composition

The active substance is sildenafil. One tablet contains 25 mg of sildenafil (as sildenafil citrate).
Other ingredients (excipients): potassium polacrilin, colloidal anhydrous silica, lactose monohydrate, povidone K-30, aspartame (E 951), croscarmellose sodium, mint flavour, magnesium stearate, potassium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment).

Posology and Method of Administration

The recommended dose of Mensil is 25 mg. After consultation, the doctor may recommend a different dosing regimen.
Mensil should not be taken more than once daily.
Mensil should be taken approximately one hour before anticipated sexual activity.
The tablet should be chewed and broken up before swallowing. The tablets do not require water for administration.

Pharmacological Action

Mensil 25 mg enhances penile erection by facilitating the relaxation of blood vessels in the penis, increasing blood inflow during sexual stimulation. Sildenafil induces an erection only in the presence of sexual arousal.

Indications

Mensil 25 mg is used in adult men for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence), defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse.

Contraindications

Mensil is contraindicated:

  • if the patient is allergic to any component of the product

  • if the patient is taking nitrates (commonly used for angina pectoris) or nitric oxide donors (such as amyl nitrite, “poppers”), as concomitant use may result in a dangerous drop in blood pressure

  • if the patient is taking riociguat for pulmonary hypertension or chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension; PDE5 inhibitors, including Mensil, potentiate its hypotensive effects

  • in cases of severe hepatic or cardiac disease

  • after a recent stroke or myocardial infarction, or in the presence of hypotension

  • if the patient has hereditary degenerative retinal disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa

  • if the patient has ever experienced vision loss due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, this product may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Adverse reactions reported with Mensil are usually mild to moderate and transient.
