Product Description
Ketonal® Active Capsules is an over-the-counter medication designed for active individuals constantly on the move, who cannot allow pain to limit their daily activities. It is suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 15 years of age.

The active ingredient in Ketonal® Active is ketoprofen (Ketoprofenum), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects. The 50 mg dose represents the maximum ketoprofen dose available without a prescription.

Indications for Ketonal® Active Capsules
Ketonal® Active 50 mg hard capsules are indicated for the short-term, symptomatic treatment of acute mild to moderate pain. It is effective for various types of pain, including:

  • Muscle pain

  • Bone and joint pain

  • Headache

  • Toothache

  • Menstrual pain

  • Pain caused by sprains and strains (traumatic pain)

Indications
Short-term, symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain of various origins, including muscle pain, bone and joint pain, headache, and menstrual pain.

Composition
Each Ketonal® Active 50 mg capsule contains:

  • Active ingredient: ketoprofen 50 mg

  • Excipients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica

  • Capsule shell: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), patent blue V (E131)

Pharmacological Effects
Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic.


Dosage and Administration
Adults and adolescents over 15 years: 1 capsule three times daily (every 8 hours).

  • Take orally with meals, with at least half a glass of water or milk.

  • Concomitant use of antacids may reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

  • Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration.

  • Do not exceed 5 consecutive days of use without consulting a physician. If symptoms persist or worsen, contact a healthcare professional.


Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to ketoprofen or any excipients.

  • History of asthma, nasal mucosa swelling, skin reactions, or other allergic reactions to ketoprofen, aspirin, or other NSAIDs.

  • Severe heart, kidney, or liver failure; bleeding tendencies; active or history of peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, or perforation.

  • Third trimester of pregnancy.

  • Children under 15 years.


Storage
Store below 25°C, out of sight and reach of children.

Adverse Effects
Like all medications, Ketonal® Active may cause side effects. Prolonged use or high doses may slightly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:

  • Swelling of the face, lips, or throat causing difficulty swallowing or breathing, wheezing, chest tightness, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure (shock), itching, rash (possible anaphylaxis)

  • Asthma attack

  • Severe stomach pain or burning (possible ulcer)

  • Vomiting blood, black stools, severe abdominal pain (possible gastrointestinal bleeding)

  • Blistering, skin peeling, severe rash (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)

  • Blood in urine, changes in urine output, swelling in legs or feet (possible kidney issues)

Common side effects: nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain, fatigue, liver function changes.
Rare side effects: severe allergic reactions, blood disorders, liver inflammation, kidney problems, serious skin reactions.


Interactions
Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking or plan to take.
Avoid co-administration with:

  • Other NSAIDs, anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, thrombolytics

  • Nikorandil, lithium, high-dose methotrexate (>15 mg/week)

Exercise caution and consult a healthcare professional before combining with:

  • Diuretics, low-dose methotrexate, antihypertensives, SSRIs, corticosteroids, pentoxifylline, immunosuppressants, antidiabetic drugs, cardiac medications, quinolone antibiotics, tenofovir.


Warnings and Precautions
Consult a doctor or pharmacist if you have a history of gastrointestinal, heart, kidney, or liver conditions, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, are over 65, or are a smoker.

NSAIDs may cause gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, or perforation at any time, even without previous symptoms. Discontinue use and seek medical advice if gastrointestinal discomfort occurs.

Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest period necessary. Ketonal® Active may mask infection symptoms such as fever. Contains lactose; consult a doctor if you have sugar intolerance.


Driving and Operating Machinery
May cause dizziness, drowsiness, visual disturbances, or seizures. Avoid driving or operating machinery if these occur.

Pregnancy, Lactation, and Fertility

  • Consult a doctor before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, planning pregnancy, or suspect pregnancy.

  • Safe in first and second trimesters only if medically necessary. Contraindicated in third trimester.

  • Not recommended during breastfeeding.

  • May impair fertility.
