Product Description
Clotrimazole Cream is a topical antifungal medication intended for the treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes of the external genitalia.

Ingredients

  • Active substance: Clotrimazole 10 mg per 1 g of cream.

  • Excipients: Sorbitan stearate, Polysorbate 60, Self-emulsifying glycerol monostearate, Cetostearyl alcohol, Benzyl alcohol, Octyldodecanol, Propylene glycol, Purified water.

Dosage and Administration
For topical use only. Apply a thin layer of cream to affected areas 2–3 times daily. After resolution of acute symptoms, continue treatment for at least 4 weeks to prevent recurrence.

Pharmacological Action
Clotrimazole is an imidazole derivative antifungal agent effective against numerous dermatophytes and yeasts. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of ergosterol synthesis, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. Disruption of the cell membrane leads to fungal cell death.

Indications
Clotrimazole Cream is indicated for the topical treatment of:

  • Fungal skin infections of the hands, feet, trunk, and groin (dermatophytoses)

  • Pityriasis versicolor

  • Candida infections of the skin and mucous membranes of the external genitalia

Contraindications
Do not use vaginally. Not to be used in patients with hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any of the excipients.

Adverse Reactions
Possible local reactions include irritation, discomfort, pruritus, rash, blistering, peeling, edema, and erythema. Rare hypersensitivity reactions may include rash, urticaria, erythema, edema, dyspnea, hypotension, or anaphylactic shock.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not exceed the recommended number of daily applications.

  • Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any other ingredients.

Drug Interactions

  • Inform your healthcare provider of all medications currently or recently used, including over-the-counter products.

  • Clotrimazole may reduce the effectiveness of amphotericin and other polyene antibiotics (e.g., nystatin, natamycin).

  • Topical corticosteroids may reduce clotrimazole efficacy.

  • When applied to the external genital mucosa, clotrimazole may compromise the integrity of latex contraceptives and reduce their effectiveness. This effect may persist for at least 5 days after discontinuation.

Pregnancy and Lactation
During breastfeeding, clotrimazole cream should only be used when clearly indicated and under medical supervision.
